PHOTO REPORT: Disney's Hollywood Studios 9/8/20 (New Halloween Treats Arrive, Voyage of the …

Nothing can stop us now, I’ll tell you how, it’s Halloween treat time! Today was the official release day for the Halloween food at Walt Disney World, and while several treats have made an early appearance over at Magic Kingdom, we haven’t found so much as a glow cube out of place here at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But today’s the day, and we were ready to try all of the new fall goodies! Oh, and check out the rest of the park too, of course. Let’s get started!
We figured we’d start the day out with something nutritious, like an apple. This one looked so perfect, we thought it must be the one for us, don’t you think? This is the Poison Candied Apple treat available at the Trolley Car Cafe. Isn’t it lovely? For what this dessert lacked in flavor, it more than made up for in presentation.
We also spotted this fun tire Jack ‘O’ Lantern straw at the Cafe, a returning favorite from last year’s Halloween time.
We saw them later at PizzeRizzo as well in a fun display being held by Cast Members outside of the restaurant.
On our way around the park, we found the orange cauldron popcorn bucket, also returning from last year. This is one of our favorite popcorn buckets, but then again, we love all of the Halloween buckets!
Next, we tried the Pumpkin Tiramisu, and we have to say, (spoilers!) this was our favorite dessert of the day. It was perfectly made, with well-balanced flavors. While it didn’t “wow” us in the seasonal presentation department, our basic PSL-loving hearts fell for this delicious treat. Our hats off to the Chef!
We took a break from snacks for a moment to photograph breaking news next— the billboard on the side of the “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” building had been removed.
Next, we dug into the Box of Bones Chocolate Eclair and were impressed with its flavors and whole white chocolate bones! This comes in as the second favorite dessert for us.
Last, but certainly not least, we tried the Pumpkin Cheesecake Cannoli from PizzeRizzo, and while we enjoyed it, it certainly did not contain the flavors we were expecting! Also don’t worry, while those may look like fizzing candies on the end, they’re just colored sugar. We did enjoy the presentation of this dessert, that’s for sure.
Once we were done with desserts it was time to check in on some ongoing projects. The scrim is still up covering the entire sign at Legends of the Hollywood. The sign is still in place beneath the scrim fabric.
The Batuuan Spira gift cards are still available at the Droid Depot in Galaxy’s Edge. With a minimum load amount of $100, they are a pricey purchase, but make for an immersive spending experience.
Wait times were a bit reminiscent of the holiday weekend. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway was at 90 minutes around midday, and was still using the extended side queue area.
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was a 75 minute wait around midday, and the line zig-zagged in front of the attraction before stretching down the center of Sunset Boulevard.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run was the reverse from what it normally is. It was a 50 minute wait around midday, but the line short, stopping just past the cockpit of the Falcon. Recently, the wait time for this attraction has been low, but the line has stretched out around the square and down past Oga’s Cantina.
At Slinky Dog Dash, we were met with a familiar sight: a 40 minute wait and a line that ended just past the drop in the coaster track.
Another queue that behaved unexpectedly today was the queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Today, we saw the outdoor portion of the queue in full use, which we haven’t seen in some time. The line moved fairly well, but it still took us double to almost triple the time to get through the queue as it has been taking recently.
On our way through Toy Story Land, we stopped for a game of Hang “Man” with these lovely Cast Members. We had to try to guess the name of the Toy Story character.
A family joined in with us, and we took turns guessing letters.
In the end, it was a close call, but we won! We love that these Cast Members were doing this to engage guests, thank you for being awesome!
We found a few fun things in the shops today, including this “sweet” deal on Goofy’s Candy Co candy, Chip & Dale Snacks, and Chocolate Factory. All of these brands are currently Buy One, Get One, and you can mix and match in between the brands.
We also found this adult long sleeve Star Wars shirt for those looking for a more basic way to show their fandom support. This shirt is available at Tatooine Traders and retails for $34.99.
Lastly we found this fun new puzzle featuring “The Child” on a wanted poster. This puzzle is available at Mickey’s of Hollywood and retails for $22.99.
We had a great day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we hope you had a good time joining us. Have a magical day!
