Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway at DLR Delayed Until 2023

It has been confirmed that the upcoming Disneyland  Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride has been delayed and now won’t open until 2023.

Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock shared on Instagram:
I am thrilled to share my “Happiest View on Earth” with you today, a special peek outside a window at our Team Disney Anaheim building. This particular view offers a behind-the-magic look at a momentous milestone that happened today at @Disneyland park – the first steel beam has been placed for what will be the future Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction, scheduled to open for guests in 2023! Swipe and take a look!
Previously, the attraction, which will be identical to the one at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort, was slated to open in 2022. This date was announced at the 2019 D23 Expo.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is the first ever Mickey Mouse themed ride in the 65 years Disney theme parks have existed. The retro themed attraction replaced the now-defunct Great Movie Ride at Disney World and will be located in Toontown at Disneyland Park in California.
Earlier this year, Walt Disney Imagineering’s Bill Weiss indicated that construction on the much-anticipated Disneyland project was moving forward. He indicated it would be progressing “in phases”, but did not indicate a timeline delay at that time.
The OC Register has also now confirmed that Disneyland’s Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway project has been pushed back by a year. Their article provided details about the exciting ride that will give Disneyland Park fans something to look forward to:
On the trackless dark ride, visitors will board a four-car train headed for a picnic with Mickey, Minnie and their dog Pluto. Naturally, like any Mickey Mouse cartoon, things quickly go awry. The ride travels through a carnival, twister, waterfall, big city, factory and a stampede of bulls, with the trackless train cars splitting apart and reconnecting along the way.
The official description of the Hollywood Studios Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride reads:
The darling duo are taking a leisurely drive to a picnic in their sporty roadster—with Engineer Goofy’s train following merrily along. Plot twist—you get to go, too! Climb aboard a runaway railway and embark on a whirlwind ride through a world where the rules of physics don’t apply. Prepare for unexpected twists, slapstick gags and mind-boggling transformations at every turn, as Mickey and Minnie try to save the day.
There’s no telling where this train is heading! This is an adventure for Mickey and Minnie fans of all ages.
What do you think about the Disneyland Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway being delayed?
