A Blackpool Hollywood actor has starred in the latest hit film from Netflix.
David Thewlis, who played Professor Remus Lupin in several of the Harry Potter films, and featured alongside Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything, is a Blackpool lad.
Born in the seaside town as David Wheeler, he attended Highfield High School in Marton and was known for playing lead guitar in the punk rock outfits QED and Door 66.
He later graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1984 before embarking on a long acting career.
He eventually rose to prominence when he starred in Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban as Professor Remus Lupin, reprising the role in later Potter films.
He then played opposite Eddie Redmayne in the Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything before featuring alongside Tom Hardy in Legend.
Now the Blackpool actor is being praised for his fantastic portrayal in the latest Netflix hit; I'm Thinking of Ending Things.
The psychological thriller was released on Friday (September 4) and stars Jessie Buckley and Jesse Plemons in the lead roles with David Thewlis and Toni Collette supporting.
Although the film is just four days old, I'm Thinking of Ending Things has already received widespread positive reviews from viewer led sites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
In the main story, a young woman (played by Jessie Buckley) who is referred to by several different hands, considers ending her relationship with boyfriend Jake (Jesse Plemons).
Her contemplation occurs during a long day trip in which Jake takes her to his parent's farm.
Its there that she meets Jake's father (played by Blackpool's David Thewlis) and mother (Toni Collette).
It's in the house that the young woman finds several suspicious things that shed a light on a dark and twisted childhood for her boyfriend.
Thewlis is also due to star in the lead role for the romantic drama film Eternal Beauty alongside Billie Piper and Sally Hawkins.
The blockbuster is expected to grace the silver screen in October.
In even more interesting, and weird, acting news, Thewlis is due to star in the third installment of David Cameron's Avatar.
The sci-fi blockbuster is set for a possible 2024 release after Avatar two (whose release has been delayed due to the pandemic) is released in 2022.
